Heartstrings,
They’re pesky things
Thrusting you to extremes
Once attached,
It can become a wrestling match
Between your head & heartstrings
Heartstrings,
They’re pesky things
Thrusting you to extremes
Once attached,
It can become a wrestling match
Between your head & heartstrings
When do you know enough is enough?
How to you know it’ll always be this tough?
When do you know to draw the line in the sand
When do you know it’s time to release their hand?
When hurt outweighs the joy, my friend
You must accept it’s come to an end
Wandering around the house at night
Wondering all that may or might
Wanting to turn back the hands of time
Wanting to do more than write this rhyme
Wandering around the house alone
Wondering thoughts turn my heart to stone
Wanting everything to stay the same
Wanting the sun to come dry the rain
Wandering around with nowhere to go
Wondering how things got so low
Wanting to turn on the lights inside
Wanting to get off this godforsaken ride
I was cut on the warp
You were cut in the weft
I turned right
& You turned left
Bearing a patchwork of scars
With roughly stitched seams
Both trying desperately
To reach our dreams
Another good day
Has come my way
My spirits lifted off the ground
Que happy dance
This is my chance
To turn things around
Back here again like a fool
Why does life have to be so cruel?
All I want is to feel like I belong
What is it about me that’s so fucking wrong?
This house will be the death of me
With all its oppression & negativity!
How do I get back out of this hole
When every ounce of life has been sucked from my soul?
Who wants to be with someone who’s hit rock bottom?
Why stay around something that turns everything rotten?
Everything will be better when the nightmare is forgotten.
Depression is a horrible thing.
It makes your mind race & ears ring.
Your thoughts are all jumbled, you don’t know what’s right & you sleep all day coz you’re sat up all night.
It’s claws dig in & once it’s got hold, it turns your heart to stone & your soul cold.
You want to shake it, you want to be warm; You want to be happy & see the end of the storm.
But there’s no light; no hope in sight – & that’s how the black dog wins the fight
